How we Hope to Retain Integrity and Credibility in a Non-credible Digital World

By: Lynnae Stine, CEO of The Lighthouse Project

In today’s world all that seems to integrate our screens are horrible stories that are coated with hate and disgust. It breaks our hearts that anytime we open our screens, our apps, and news sites it is hard to view. Social media and the internet give us so many opportunities to have our voices and stories heard. Interactivity is at an all-time high for digital platforms. For which we are very grateful since this is how The Lighthouse Project came to be. However, with so much interactivity there is ample opportunity for fake news, gossip, and hacking to take place. Here at the LHP we do not want to be associated which such things. It is not part of our mission and does not align with our values to gossip or spread fake news.

Our mission and goal at the LHP are to promote and advocate companies that have great products and even greater social missions, who have a hand in their community spreading positivity and love. Therefore, we want to state that the companies we feature are companies that we truly believe in. We do not want to lead our viewers astray and promote a company that we do not believe is promoting goodness in the world. The words and affirmations we give the company in our feature stories are true and our opinions of said company. We want to state that we do not believe every company we feature will turn out to be your favorite company, we just wish to showcase a company that is doing good and leave it up to you our readers to learn more about them if you wish.

For transparency purposes we want to explain in detail the steps of our featuring process. First, we take a step back to recall any companies that have recently caught our attention. It may be that we found a product that we love or heard a story of a company. We then go into our research portion of the process. In depth research is conducted to learn more about the company, their origin story, their products, how products are made, and where products are made. Then next, our favorite part, is we research their company’s social mission and outreach in the community. If there is a company that has a great social mission, they contribute to or act in a caring way to their community we reach out to them to chat and set up a meeting. At said interview we talk more about how they got started and what has been the most amazing part of their company’s journey. After the meeting is over, we create the feature story including direct quotes and advocacy from me with a bit of creative bias since I am passionate about them. At the end of the feature story an address or contact info including the company’s website is linked so readers can learn more about the company if they so wish. That is how The Lighthouse Project creates our feature stories and how we hope to retain integrity and credibility in a non-credible digital world.
